Create Your Own Foil Bottle Labels
February 25, 2010 on 12:44 pm | In Laserfoil | No CommentsMany companies look to create stunning labels for their products. A great way to do that is to apply some laserfoil to the product labels. Here is a true life example of what one of our customers did with our laserfoil and clear laser labels!
One of our local customers came into our shop back in Fall 2009 looking for labels for her fragrances and body lotions. She had clear bottles, so we recommended our clear labels to her. She wanted more than just blank text on a clear label, so we turned her onto our laserfoil. We sent her home with some samples so she could test out different designs and colors for herself and she came back with remarkable results!

She had used our Silver Laserfoil on our clear labels to create her labels. With the clear labels, it appeared that the silver foil was applied directly to the bottle itself! The labels cost $7.95 and the laserfoil cost $15.95 – She was able to produce 60 large professional quality bottle labels for less than $25 and you can too!
How to use Laserfoil
February 24, 2010 on 12:18 pm | In Laserfoil | No CommentsIt’s not hard to use laserfoil. Basically, you print your document as you normally would, apply the laserfoil to the spots you want to use it on, and run it through the printer again to adhere the foil to the toner! Here’s a little more detailed description.
1. Create your document in your text editing program. Plan for where you want to use the foil. It could be single spots on the page, or the entire page. When you are finished, you can print out your document!
2. Place the laserfoil on the paper. Take your laserfoil and cut it to the appropriate size. In this case, we just wanted to make our logo shine. We cut the laserfoil large enough to cover the entire logo, but small enough so that it didn’t touch any of our other text on the page. Using the provided mini circle labels, we stick the laserfoil to the paper.
3. Heat the laserfoil to the paper. Really what needs to happen, is your paper needs to be heated up enough so that the laserfoil adheres to the toner already on the sheet. To do this, simply create a new blank document in your text editor. This document should have no text on it. We just want to run the paper through the printer again, we do not want to print on it. When you have this set up, load your document in the printer as if you wanted to print on the same side, and click print.
4. Remove the laserfoil. Once you have printed, simply remove the laserfoil you applied to the document. As you peel it off, you will notice that parts of the laserfoil that you are peeling off, are sticking to your document! Discard the excess laserfoil and you are done!

Greeting Cards vs Invitations – What is the difference?
February 18, 2010 on 10:05 am | In Just for Fun | No CommentsYou’re probably thinking.. “Everybody knows the difference between Greeting Cards and Invitations… what’s this guy talking about?”. Short and simple… We all know that greeting cards are given to people to show affection and invitations are given to people to invite them to an event.
OK. But what about their physical appearance? Is there any difference? The answer really is not clear. Many people consider invitations to be flat (non folding) cards. But others beg to differ. All agree that a greeting card has a fold. At least that clears up the problem a little!
As the web designer for all Desktop online stores, sometimes I find myself wondering if I should list a product as an Invitation or as a Greeting Card. It seems that the content and the creator’s personal preference is really the only thing that makes a product either an invitation or a greeting card. Here at Desktop, most of our products are blank- leaving it up to the consumer to make the decision!
It looks like all we can really do is let fate put our products in the right hands!
