After numerous reports of customers having trouble adding items to our website’s floating cart, we have decided to disable it and go back to the normal cart. We are very sorry if anyone experienced any issues with the cart!

Desktop Papers Site Redesign

It’s been a long time since we blogged on here, but I can assure you, it was worth the wait.

Over the past month, we have been working on a new design for our DesktopPapers.com website. The new design was made live today around 12PM EST.

This new web design is much more appealing that our last design. We’ve added Shop By Theme sections, along with custom banners, and great product image collections. Product pages contain more info and a larger picture. They also feature an image zoom so you can see the product even better!

New Image Zoom

We’ve added a new image zoom feature to our images. Basically, rather than being taken off the current page to view a larger image, the image just becomes larger on the current page you are on. We hope this eliminates confusion when viewing images.

Checkout Redesigned

If you’ve ordered from us in the past couple of days, you may have noticed that our checkout has changed. This is just another one of the many website enhancements we are constantly adding.

Our old checkout area used to look nothing like our website and may have confused customers. Now, we’ve made it very similar to our website- making our customers more comfortable checking out with us.

Facebook Integration

To make our website more socially active, we’ve integrated Facebook “Like” buttons and comment boxes on all our pages! Now, you can like a product or share your comments on it!

Liking the product will share it with your Facebook friends… spreading the word about our great products & services. Commenting on our pages will not only share the information with your Facebook friends, but rather with our entire online community! Finally, all the social action on our website will be reported to our homepage activity feed- located at the bottom of our home page!

New FAQ section & Desktop Forum

We’ve been adding many new features to our website lately. The newest features are an FAQ section and a Desktop Forum. The FAQ section contains our most frequently asked questions. This should clear some basic things up with our customers.

The Desktop Forum is a different story. Our forum features spots to ask your questions about our products, services, templates, and more. However, our intention of the forum is much bigger than that. We’ve created the forum in hopes of building a great Desktop Publishing Resource. We want designers and desktop publishers to join the forum and answer questions posted by users about desktop publishing. We believe this could turn into an invaluable resource for our customers and the entire web.

Floating Cart Added to Desktop Supplies

In an effort to improve usability throughout our website, we’ve implemented a new floating version of our shopping cart. This floating cart is great for users because it doesn’t take them to the checkout until they are ready!

The floating cart also constantly displays the amount of items and the cost of the products in the shopping cart. When clicked, you can view the items in your cart and remove or add to them. There is also a shipping calculator which gives you a preview of the shipping costs for your order.

Our sister site, DesktopPapers.com, offers a nice variety of stationery paper, cards, & invitations. We are now in the process of tweaking the information on the site to make it more user-friendly for our customers! In the next week or two, you will notice product descriptions changed and moved. Also, you will notice our new Product highlights right next to the images. The product highlights really tell you everything you need to know about the product! Main product descriptions have been moved down below the image, product highlights, and order button.
